In Work Package 7 (WP7), both communication and exploitation activities are integrated. This approach ensures that while the project’s results are effectively communicated and disseminated, the exploitation potential of the technology, intellectual property, and know-how is also carefully evaluated and maximized. This dual focus aims to enhance the overall impact of the LCA4BIO project.
Maria Cullel - Exploitation Manager
- How does CTA plan to assess the potential for exploiting the technology, intellectual property (IP), and know-how derived from the LCA4Bio project, particularly in terms of strategic commercial and technological contexts, and how will they involve bio-based industry experts in this process?
CTA plans to assess the potential for exploiting the technology, intellectual property (IP), and know-how through a comprehensive strategy that includes the following steps:
- Exploitation Strategy development: CTA will develop an exploitation strategy beyond the project duration, focusing on implementation in the bio-based industries. This strategy will follow the 3Cs framework, which includes the positions of Customers, Competitors, and Corporations. During the project, this strategy will be developed through meetings, questionnaires, and workshops with partners.
- Business Path definition: CTA will design different business paths for the technological solutions and the commercial results validated during the project. These paths will involve individual and collective assessments of the market potential and socio-economic impact of the generated knowledge and IP.
- Engagement with potential partners: CTA will identify potential market and technology partners. This assessment will aim to establish a strategic rationale for cooperation in commercializing the project outcomes.
- Evaluation of IP: an evaluation will be conducted to identify which project outcomes could be protected and to determine their strategic value, economic potential, and exploitation risks. This evaluation will involve reviewing the results within the consortium and testing them with industrial partners.
- Involvement of Bio-based Industry experts: CTA will involve bio-based industry experts in the exploitation process by conducting stakeholder focus groups. These groups will allow for the selection, detection, and engagement of relevant and interested actors in the bio-based industry. The stakeholders could contribute to the project’s developments ensuring that the methodologies developed meet their needs.
- Exploitation activities and IP management. Could you elaborate on CTA’s strategy for identifying potential market and technology partners, assessing the market potential and socioeconomic impact of generated IP, and compiling a manual of IP, know-how, and innovations for bio-based certification schemes and pLCA guidelines?
CTA’s strategy for exploitation activities and IP management involves identifying potential market and technology partners. CTA will be a bridge to explore opportunities for collaboration and commercialization of the project outcomes. By identifying and engaging with these partners, the aim to establish a relation to cooperate and exploit the generated results.
In addition, CTA will design different business plans for the technological solutions validated during the project and that can be commercially exploited. These business paths will involve individual and collective evaluations of the market potential and the impact that will be achieved through the results.
Lastly, regarding Intellectual Property, CTA will build a manual that consolidates the project’s IP know-how, and innovations related to bio-based certification schemes, pLCA guidelines, and generated data. This manual will be part of the Exploitation Plan deliverable and will serve as a comprehensive resource for understanding and utilizing the project outcomes. There will also be IP training aimed at ensuring that all partners understand the importance of excellent IP management and formulating agreements for shared results.
Estibaliz Garmendia - Communication & Dissemination Manager
- Could you explain how CTA will develop tailored communication guidelines and a plan to effectively reach both scientific and non-scientific audiences, including the identification of key interest groups and the maintenance of a project website?
The CTA team in the LCA4Bio project has the responsibility of developing a tailored communication plan and guidelines that effectively reach both scientific and non-scientific audiences. To achieve this, they need to identify the key interest groups, such as researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and the general public, and determine the most effective ways to engage with them.
When it comes to scientific audiences, the plan may involve activities like publishing research papers, attending conferences, or organizing webinars to share project findings and updates. On the other hand, for non-scientific audiences, the team may focus on creating easily understandable materials such as infographics, videos, or blog posts that simplify complex scientific concepts.
Maintaining an informative and up-to-date project website will be essential. This means regularly adding news, events, publications, and any other relevant information about the project. The website will serve as a central hub where both scientific and non-scientific audiences can access more information about LCA4Bio and stay connected with its progress.
How does the LCA4BIO project plan to utilize social media platforms to engage with its target audiences and disseminate project updates?
The CTA team plans to actively use social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube to engage with both scientific and non-scientific audiences. These platforms will help us build a community around the project, where stakeholders can stay updated on our progress, events, and key findings. We’ll create tailored content for each platform, such as short updates, infographics, and videos, to make complex scientific information more accessible and engaging. Additionally, our social media strategy will include specific guidelines for partners to interact with and amplify the project’s presence, ensuring a consistent and widespread reach across various audiences.
