On February 27-28, 2025, the 2nd LCA4BIO General Assembly took place in Luxembourg, bringing together the project consortium to review progress, discuss key achievements, and outline the next steps for developing enhanced Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies for bio-based systems. Hosted by LIST (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology), the meeting fostered productive discussions and collaborative exchanges among partners.

Workshop Improving the LCSA methodology in a bio-economy context in EU R&D projects: CALIMERO & ALIGNED

The first day featured a dedicated workshop alongside CALIMERO and ALIGNED, providing a unique opportunity to explore methodologies and tools used across these projects. The session facilitated an in-depth dialogue on best practices, challenges, and synergies in LCA approaches, strengthening cooperation within the research community and promoting alignment in sustainability assessment methodologies.

Discussions on Work Packages and Progress

Throughout the two-day event, each work package leader presented updates on their respective tasks, showcasing the advancements made in refining LCA methodologies and improving sustainability assessment frameworks. Key discussions included:

  1. Development of standardized LCA tools to better assess bio-based systems
  2. Integration of circularity aspects into LCA methodologies
  3. Strategic planning for upcoming milestones and deliverables
